Diamond Key Lodge – New Windows in 2008

25 04 2009

Last year, we replaced all the windows in the main lodge and the cabin … a big job, but it has made a huge difference …

We re-painted the famous Diamond Key.  You can see it from the sky, and see it from a distance.  Behind, is cabin #3, a typical cabin.  Last year, we replaced all the windows and the cabins now have a nice clean look.

Season opens in less than a week – 2009

25 04 2009

The opening season is less than 1 week away.   This is a picture from last year.  George decided to try casting off the rocks at Diamond Key.  Good things come to those who fish!!  This was a very nice Pike.  Notice the silver wabler in the Pike’s mouth – a great Lure for the Spring.

Maggie, David and Graeme are up at the camp and are getting everything set up.  New picnic tables, some new boats and new engines … all arriving.  Much to do … little time.  The Lodge is now hooked up, the docks are in … the weather has been beautiful … and the sunset season is starting!

Graeme Kilgour – Artist- Scluptor – Outdoor Adventurer

As some of you know, Graeme joined the Diamond Key Lodge team in 2008.   This is a chance to learn more about Graeme, his background, the dirt?  Any skeletons in his closet?  What is his background?  How did he end up at Diamond Key?  Is he really related to ZZ top?

A gifted artist and sculptor, we want to know more about Graeme?

Graeme, Maggie and David – headed to the Key

Dock at Diamond Key

Dock at Diamond Key

This weekend, Graeme, Maggie and David are headed up to the Key.    David has already been up a few times and we have one of the docks and the pontoon already in the water.  Now, it is the time to clean up from winter storms, put out the docks, turn on the plumgin and deal with all the “usual” startup work for the camp.

We’re pretty excited because we have purchased six 16 foot Lund wide-body boats, and 4-stroke Yamaha engines.   This will make it easier to kick off the season.   But still, lots of work and long hours ahead.

Good news is that the forecast is for good warm weather and the water levels are up – at least for now.
